And There Was Some Snow and Many Snow Days

Today is day six of being away from school. And not one sick day or personal day. How does this happen in Kansas?!?!?!?

I loved snow days when I was growing up. I love snow days as a mom and a teacher. Found days. Stay at home. Drink warm drinks. Watch tv.

Two years ago my good friend Angela taught me and her then kindergartners the "Snow Day Dance." We danced several times this past Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday were snow days.

Saturday and Sunday were gorgeous days. The sun was shining. We got weekend things done. (I may have done the dance in Dick's Sporting Goods on Sunday while shopping with my niece and sister-in-law.)

Monday and Tuesday are snow days.

Now I am sitting here watching a live reveal of Season 16 DWTS Stars and Pros and planning what I could get done today.

I could work on this list I made yesterday. Of many pins that it is time to make.

I could wash mini-blinds.

I could watch HGTV.

I could make long-term lessons plans.

I could play with a glue gun and craft sticks and see what happens.

This is likely the last snow day I will have for several years. I have to make the most of it. Such pressure.

  1. Good choice! Loving these days. I am thinking it needs to be a requirement for at least 2 snow days in February every year. Annual Snow Day Dance date suggestions??

  2. WOW! 6 Snow Days?!?! That's crazy! I'm in New Jersey and we haven't had a SINGLE one! Zip. Zero. Nada.

We had one early release due to an ice storm, which was nice, but I long for the 5am phone call from my principal telling me to turn off my alarm :)

Enjoy your day - I love your Pintrest to-do list idea :)

  3. 6 snow days wow! Enjoy your time off.

I am in South Georgia and we are off today because of flooding and bad road conditions. We hardly ever get any kind of weather days so I am enjoying my day off!

    Love your Pinterest to-do list.

  4. We had a whole week off in GA in 2010. It was pretty clear by Wednesday or Thursday, but the roads kept freezing. We ending up hiking to McDonalds (about 3 miles away) just to get out of the house. And then by the name everything was clear, it was the weekend and Monday we had off for Martin Luther King Jr. I told my students to appreciate it because it only happens once every 10 years or so.

  5. Please stop extending your snow dance to northern Oklahoma, I am over snow days and inside recess. I would like MANY, dry, warm, outside recess, days. Please do your "hot days" dance! LOL
